Bali Treetop Adventure Park
26 June 2006, 05:56:25 (1690 clicks) The Asia-Pacific region gets fresh additions in ecotouris with Treetop Adventure Parks springing up in New-Zealand, Australia and just recently...this island's own botanical park. The highlands of Bedugul are already a popular destination, featuring a scenic panorama of verdant hills and the island's main lakes within its proximity, and has established itself as a favorrite recreational and educational itinerary with its Eka Karya Bali Botanical Park.
Now, a new addition enhances the educational and recreational virtues of the botanical park that dwells within the park's grounds. In fact, it is another portion of the park, a park on its own. Despite the recent downturn in tourism, the boatnical park proudly introduced the Bali Treetop Adventure Park early this year, in a side effort to support the island's tourism and to add the variety of features at this favored destination.
Occupying around 2 hectares, the treetop adventure playground boasts a staggering variety of more than 60 different challenges to choose from. The adventure park has been calimed to be the largest in Asia.
The ecotourism activity was an adoption from the trend that occurred in France; which was first built around the year 1995.
Simply showing that grappling and swinging through nature's oxygenated green canopies really lures people in to relieve all that mundane madness of everyday life.
High demands for ecotourism saw the development and success of activities such as rafting and trekking. The birth of the first Treetop Adventure Park in the French Alps spawned 45 treetop adventure parks there by the year 2000. The count topped more than 350 Treetop Adventure Parks in France, England, Spain, Italy, Switzerland and Canada last year. This year saw the first three parks in the Asia-Pacific region, namely in New Zealand, Australia and this beautiful island called Bali.
The importance of maintaining and not disturbing the ecosystem is a rule of thumb, and the parks management has already taken measures such as not using nails or any penetrating devices on the trees. The trees themselves are not of the rare and protected species. All platforms are held in place using an innovative compression system to protect the trees from any damage. protective half logs are used to prevent cables from cutting into trees and minimizing tree trunk degradation.
The Treetop Adventure park is a unique and new way to discover and explore a part of the forest and the surroundings by engaging in these Tarzan-fun activities. Activities range from treetop to treetop via ropes and nets, wooden bridges that inter-connect one tree to another, Tarzan Jumps. Flying- Fox and other adventurous activities that are equally educative, entertaining, fun and of course challenging. These activities can either be partaken in individually or with family and teams, and can be participated in by children from four years old and older.
The park follows European standards, and the main materials used in the construction include high quality Indonesia Bangkirai wood, galvanized wire ropes, and braided nylon ropes and nets. All equipment is installed with the preservation of the trees and an optimization of scenic views in mind.
Bali Treetop Adventure Park is composed of 6 circuits and each circuit ventures from tree to tree at the height of 2 to 20 meters. Each circuit is customized and includes 8 to 16 challenges between trees. Circuits are designed with graded difficulty levels, so participant can progress safely at their own pace regardless of skill.
Bali Treetop Adventure Park has more than 60 fun challenges, divided into 6 circuits for all levels and ages. The circuits are: the Yellow & Green Squirrel Circuits for children 4 to 8 years old, the Green Discovery Circuit for all ages, the Blue Circuit or 'Dancing with Trees' for the first sensations, the Red or Emotion circuit, and the advanced Black Adrenaline Circuit. Of course, after a while with all the fun and chest thumping on each peak, you'd want for more.
Bali Treetop Adventure Park is open daily from 9 am to 6 pm. Adventure durations for adults and children are two and a half hours, while the Squirrel Circuits take around one and a half. Participants arrive at the park and first receive their harness, pulley and carabiners and then are given safety instructions and guidance from one of the park's patrol guides on the Demonstration Circuit.
After all is understood and all have gotten the hang of it, its gree time to go anywhere you wish under the supervision of the patrol guides. With fun for all the family and friends, even the non-participants get the stress relief of watching the many squirrels having fun un there in the trees. - BB -
