BALI NUSA DUA EVENTS

PEED AGUNG is a traditional Balinese Cultural parade that exhibits many kinds of Balinese dance, Costume, symbols, traditional banners and traditional Balinese music and instrument. This parade is based on the story of the journey of Brahmana’s “Danghyang Nirartha goes to Bali Jagadhita”. The Peed Agung Parade will be the main attraction at the opening ceremony.

Accompanying the Peed Agung Parade is the International Float Parade presented by hotels and tenants in Nusa Dua Resort area displaying their unique themes. Others parading include The Lawn Bowling Club, Bali Collection and BTDC as the management of Nusa Dua Area. The local “Banjar’s” and other province will send their own attractions.

The Parade is creatively packed with vibrant display of colours, mixing international culture and local art, showing beauty and harmony as the overall Peed Agung Theme.

BEACH SOCCER COMPETITION:

Soccer fans will not be disappointed! For the last decade, Beach Soccer has become a common and popular sports in Indonesia, just like field soccer. The different is only six players are allowed to play. Similar rules apply but Beach Soccer players must have the extra power to maneuver in the heavy beach sand at high noon!

Players dress in colourful stylish costumes to make fashion statements and entertain spectators with creative acrobatics movements.

The Nusa Dua Festival will hold the 1st Bali Open Beach Soccer Competition near future Marriott Beach. This is an Open Tournament with good prize money and promises loads of fun for players and spectators. Registration is limited to 50 groups.

APSARAS ARTS SINGAPORE:

Apsaras Arts was established in 1997 by Mrs Neila Sathyalingam, a Cultural Medallion recipient for Dance. The company aims to promote and maintain the highest standards for Indian Classical Dance forms in their true, traditional techniques. Apsaras Arts has performed in major local events such as the Singapore Arts Festival and Chingay. They have also participated in overseas events such as the Australian Youth Music Festival (Melbourne) in 1983, Hong Kong Arts Festival in1989, International Folklore Festival (Belgium) in 1985. In 1988, Apsaras Arts collaborated with Dance Ensemble Singapore and Sri Warisan Som Said Performing Arts Ltd to present Singapore Surprise, a multi-ethnic dance performance in Chennai, India, and at the ASEAN celebration in Paris, France. In 2004, Apsaras Arts staged a production, “Aananda Narthanam” for the 26th Bali Arts Festival. All performances were well-received.

ART SCALPING PROGRAM:

The process of scalping a stone transform into a statue will be a very unique and memorable attraction to all Nusa Dua Festival visitors. It also a creativity showcase from some of the very talented Bali Artists. This event which is a contest, will be held for a full week where visitors can observe in real time from the start to the end result of each artist. All contestants will be competing for total prize Rp 6 million and the best masterpiece will become a fixed Nusa Dua Resort ornaments.

BLANCHES CHESS:

A NOT TO BE MISSED event. One of Nusa Dua Festival grand hightlights. This is not just any ordinary chess game, but one with human sized chess pieces moving in a well choreographed dance movement on the commands of the Grand Masters (GM). GM Utut Adianto from Indonesia and GM Eugene Torre from Philippines will duel in a non title match visualized in Blanches Chess.

This stylish chess game is purely a Balinese creation and it combines the scenario of ordinary chess game and Balinese Cultural dance that is based on the hero characters in the story of Pandaan War. The game is played on a huge man made chess board 24m x 24m in dimension and the pawn is cast by real dancers wearing Traditional War Costume of Bali.

Blanches Chess adopts International rules and regulation released by FIDE.

To highten the excitement of this event, GM Utut will pit his skill in a simultaneous chess match against 50 chess players. Do register now and have an unforgetable time.

Tantalize your taste buds with a variety of food selection, from aromatic Indian breads and curries to paella, to sweet strawberry corner to the rustic taste of Woodfire Pizza, Mangolian Stir Fried and local specialty.
